Mrs. T. B. D. L. Max, ofNiangua, came in last week for a visit among old Houston friends. Dave was many years a valued citizen of our town and finds much progress and improvement here since his departure. The Herald acknowledges a substantial call.

Mr. Sam Fry, one of the old aud well known citizens of Clinton township, was injured by a disc harrow last Thursday and died from the result of his wounds Friday. -Mr. Fry was one ot the old residents of the county, and a man widely known and highly respected. Died At Sedalia, last week, Miss Bessie Smith, daughter of Mrs. Jennie Smith, ot this city. Mrs. Smith was called to Sedalia by a telegram announcing the dangerous sickness oi her daughter, but arrived too late as the young lady died after only a short sickness with appendicitis, remains were buried at Sedalia.
