Section A Page 3 Houston, Jan. 16, 1997 Deaths ficiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery. He served in the Army from September 1942 to November iy45. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.

He married Lorene Bailey. They lived on a farm in the Eunice community. Mr. Halstead also operated a bulldozing operation for several At Rolla Manor, she was elected Valentine queen of the Alzheimer's ward in 1996 but refused to wear the crown. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Anne; and seven brothers and sisters, Alice Hagenbusch, Daisy Hughes, Grover Denney, Jessie Elliott, William S.

Denney, Ruth Floyd and an infant sister. Surviving are two sons. Denney Brown of Solo and Norman Brown of Rolla; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchi idren Services were Jan. 1 1 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating.

Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery. Dora Kinnaird Dora Edna Kinnaird, 87, daughter of William Edmond and Lennie Schultz Wagoner, was bom Sept. 3. 1909. at Wildwood.

She died Jan. 6, 1997, at Glenwood Health Care Center at Seymour. She married Wesley Virgit Kinnaird Dec. 15. 1928.

They had eight children and lived at Roby. Mrs. Kinnaird retired after many years of employment at Fort Leonard Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Charles Don Kinnaird; and a daughter, Audrey Louise Hill. Surviving are her children, Delbert Elster Kinnaird of Maryland Heights, Prentice Jewel Hilderbrand of Independence.

Eunice Faye Davis of Rolla. Eulace Jerald Kinnaird of Plato, Shirley Jane Olin of Fordland and Wm. Dean Kinnaird of Moscow Mills; three brothers, Wm. C. Wagoner of Barnhart, Floyd Wagoner of Waynesville and Marion Wagoner of Brighton, one sister.

Leila Mae Williams of Crocker; 27 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 9 at the Palace Union Church with Terry Key officiating. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston. Al Halstead Alvin Lyle Halstead, 76, son of Milton and Lula Pearl Young Halstead.

was bom Oct. 31, 1920, at Powhattan, Kan. He died Jan. 7, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital at Kirkwood after suffering a heart Mildred Shanks Mildred D.

Shanks. 87. daughter of Alvin Homer and Tildie Nicholas Courtney, was bom Jan. 4, 1910, near Eminence. She died Jan.

6, W7, at Community Care Center in Mediapolis. Iowa, where she had been a resident for the last eight years, Mrs. Shanks spent most of her life in the Raymondville community where she attended school through grade 10. She and her husband. Charles, owned and operated Shanks Garage for a number of years.

Mrs. Shanks was a member of the Raymondville Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She helped with child care for the book and bloodmobile. Her last employment was in the dietary department at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband: two brothers, Leonard and Lloyd Courtney; and two sisters, Ada Marie Courtney and Atriel Ruth Troutman.

Surviving are nieces and nephews. Services were Jan. 11 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery.

Ruby Brown Ruby Ellen Brown, y3, daughter of Columbus Taylor Denney and Susan Mary Doughty Denney. was bom June I. 1903. She died Jan. 6, 1997, at Rolla Manor Care Center at Rolla, where she had been a resident since 1989.

She graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1923 and attended two summer terms of Springfield Normal School, the forerunner of Southwest Missouri State University. She taught at Turley, many times making her own books. She also taught at Pine Ridge near Ellis Prairie. She taught herself to play the parlor organ and played for churches, funerals and other occasions. She married Doyle Edwin Brown Dec.

24. 1925. They had three children and lived in the Bucyrus community for many years. While living at Bucyrus. she was a member of the Bucyrus Baptist Church.

After moving to Houston in 1979 after the death of her husband, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. Lodge, American Legion and the Eunice Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Halstead. Surviving are his wife, Lorene; one son. Roger Halstead of Yukon; one brother, Clifford Halstead of Spokane.

one sister, Vivian Suits of Greenacres, and two grandchildren. Services were Jan. 10 at the Eunice Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Jackson and the Rev. Albert Steelman officiating.

Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston. Chester Fox Chester Leroy Fox, 90. son of John Perry and Mary Rosetta Boren Fox, was bom Nov. 30, 1906. near Eunice.

He died Jan. 7, 1997, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. He married Mary Stewart. Mr. Fox lived for many years in the Eunice community.

He worked for the forestry service and following his move from the farm to Houston, he worked part lime at the Houston golf course. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Houston, were he was a deacon. He was preceded in death by one son, John Fox; and a granddaughter. Surviving are his wile. Mary; his children.

Dora Wallace of Licking, Naomi Hays of Ozark, Mary K. Collins of Houston and Roy Fox of Sparta; a twin sister, Clara Haney of Monett; and several grand- and grea -grandchi idren Services were Jan. 10 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Eunice.

Rado Wilson Rado Bill Wilson, 81, son of Osby E. and Sarah E. Davis Wilson, was born March 24, 1915. at Duke. He died Jan.

13. 1997, at Houston House where he had been a resident for 'he last eight years. He married Viola Cooper Nov. 20. 1938.

at Kinderpost. They had five children. Mr. Wilson was in the CC Corps for two years, served in the Army during World War II and earned three battle stars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

He became a minister at age 31 and continued until eight years ago where he suffered a stroke. He raised and sold registered blue tick coon hounds. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Glen. Granville, Woodrow and Otto Wilson; two sisters, Violet Johnston and Edith Landreth; and two grandsons.

Surviving are his wife, Viola, of the home at Raymondville; four daughters, Darlena Floyd of Licking. Billie Kelly of Mansfield, Theresa Barton of Raymondville and Janice VanNess of Springfield; one son, Raybum "Pete" Wilson of Raymondville; two sisiers, Lena Hayes and Lucilie Baker of Modesto, one brother. Arthur Wilson of Rolla; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Services are 1 1 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Boone Creek Baptist Church with the Rev.

Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston. Gaylord Richards Services are 2:30 today (Thursday) at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel for Gavlord Earl Richards. The Rev. Paul Smith will officiate.

Mr. Richards. 72, died Jan. 12 at his home at Mountain Grove. Among the survivors are one son.

Russell Dewayne Richards of Waco. Texas; five daughters. Carolyn Schrader of Vinion. Iowa. Jackie Smith of Waterloo.

Iowa, Rosie Troxiar of Dallas. Texas. Judy Sink and Peggy Graham of Punta Gorda, two brothers, Delbert of Houston and Victor of Mountain Grove; two sisters, Evelyn Neuendorf of Vinton, Iowa, and Maxine Tipton of Hemct, 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandch 1 1 dren Burial will be in the C. T. Smith Cemetery near Success.

Lee Proe of Waco. Texas, and Nola Proe of ihe home: a sister. Esther Bridges ot Bellon; and five grandchildren. Services were Jan. 13 at the First Baptist Church in Cabool with the Rev.

Jack Smothers officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott -Gen try Funeral Home. Woodrow McCall Woodrow Wilson McCall. 74. son of Marion F.

McCall and Hattie Elizabeth Volloner Curtner McCall, was bom June 27. 1922, al Bendavis. He died Jan, 10, 1997, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. He attended Murr School near Bendavis and married Thrrtn Hines Dec. 27, 1950.

They had three sons. He worked at Producers Creamery for 1 1 years until he was injured in an accident in 1954, He worked for 11 years at Sunny Hill Poultry. In spile on being handicapped by blindnesss, he was a furniture builder and mechanic. He was ordained as a Free Wilt Baptist minister in the early 1960s. He was preceded in death by four sisters.

Jane, Alma. Marvilla and Martha; and iwo brothers, John and Oliver Curtner. Surviving are his wife. Theda of the home at Cabool; three sons, Terry McCall of Clever, Garry and Larry McCall of Cabool; two sisters, Ellen Bressler of Pleasant Hill, and Orilla Skaggs of Cabool; seven grandchildren, one step-grandchild and two step-great-grandchil-dren. Services were Jan.

13 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Cabool with the Rev. Glen Murray, the Rev Dale Blackwell and the Rev. Darrel Loughridge officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction ot Elliott -Gentry Funeral Home. Grace Miller Grace Hope Miller, 101.

daughter of Mason S. and Permelia A. Holloway Dooley. was bom July 16, 1895, at Eldon, She died Jan. 12.

1997. al Maranatha Village in Springfield. She married Floyd J. Miller Aug. 16, 1916, al Eldon.

They had three children. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Summersvillc Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; one son, Harold; two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are one son, Roland of Summersville; one daughter, Jean Fleming of Springfield; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 15 at the Duncan Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with Paul Hamm of of Claude Calvin and Alta Lay Miller, was bom Feb. 8. 1914, near Houston. She died Jan.

9. 1997. at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston following a lengthy illness and suffering strokes. She mamed Ivan Jones Oct. 12, 1935.

They lived in this area over the years and were residing near Houston. Mrs. Jones had worked at nursing homes in Cabool and Mountain Grove. She was a member of the Mary S. Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving is her husband, Ivan, of the home near Houston. Services were Jan. 13 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Houston wuh John Frakes officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery. Mary Ridgley Mary Lavinia Cooper Ridgley, 83, daughter of James B.

and Elizabeth Templeton Jackson Cooper, was born Jan. 2, 1914. in Dooley County. Ga. She died Jan.

9. 1997. at the Kabul Nursing Home following a long illness. She married M. George Ridgley in 1950.

They had three children. Mrs. Ridgley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mountian Grove and Town and Country Extension Club. Before retiring, she was a bookkeeper for the state of Maryland for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Surviving are three children, George Robert Ridgley of Berkeley. Calif. James Charles Ridgely of Napa, and Deborah Elizabeth Baty of Bendavis: five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 13 at Ihe Craig-Hurtl-Bradley Funeral Home Chapel with the Kev.

Gene Edwards and the Rev, Bill Villapiano officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery. Myrtle Proe Myrtle Irene Proe. 81. daughter of Charles Wesley and Mary Frances Crane Briggs, was born June 19.

1915. at Cabool. She died Jan. 10. 1997.

at Houston House. She was a life-long resident of Texas County. She lived in the Elk Creek community and attended the Elk Creek school. She mamed Alvin Lee Proe Oct. 29.

1933. at Simmons. They had three children. She retired from Brown Shoe Co. in Mountain Grove after 30 years.

Mrs. Proe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cabool. She was preceded in death by her husband: two hrnthers, Leonard Bnggs and an infant brother; and two sisters. Mane Grose and Helen Ratterree. Surviving are three children, Charles Proe of Mountain Grove.

21, at the aerie south of Houston on U.S. 63. Charles A. "Chuck" Lawrence, 74, was born Oct. 1, 1922.

at Birmingham, Ala. He died Jan. 9, 1997, at a Killeen, Texas, hospital. A former resident of Houston, he spent 25 years in the military before retiring. He had received a National Defense Service Medal.

Good Conduct Medal. Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He was a life member of American Legion Post 41 of Houston and past post commander. For a time he and his wife operated a business in Houston. He was preceded in death by a brother and one son.

Surviving are his wife. Inez of Killeen, Texas; three sons, John Ridleg of Dublin. Randy Lawrence of Golden. and Charles Lawrence of Killeen, Texas; three daughters. Jewell Foster of Seneca.

Robin Lawrence of Aurora. and Gail Nixon of Wahiah. Oahu, Hawaii; his stepmother, Ollie Lawrence of DeBary, one brother, James Lawrence of DeBary, five sisters, Aiene Waters of Robertsdale, Lois Hohbs of Miraman. Henrietta Bryson of Falkville. Dale Mallory of Orlando.

and Jean Shine of Palm Beach. 15 grandchildren and 1 1 great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 13 al Killeen Memorial Park Chapel with Capt. John Walton officiating.

Burial with military honors was in Killeen Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Texas.
