Houston, May 26, 1977 ft i -A Plato Community and Jimmy from Houston out to church at Oak Hill Sunday morning. Edgar and Verna Moore and Jessie Hoeck visited awhile with Carlos Elmore late Sunday afternoon. Leland and Doris Douglas called on Margaret and Lloyd Walls after church Sunday. Vacation Bible School at Oak Hill will be May 30 thru June 3 this year. Mardyn Malam will serve as director.

Herbert and Beulah Douglas and Leta visited with Oscar and Lottie Douglas Sunday evening. Birthday Celebration Mrs.Lula "Mom" Davis of Ehnonte, Calif, formerly of Roby, celebrated her 80th birthday April 28 at the home of her son, Jack and family in Temeculs, Calif. Later she flew to Walnut Creek. Calif, where another celebration was held at the home of another son, Harold (Red) David. Mrs.

Davis received many cards including congratulations from President Carter office. Her daughter. Peggy (Mace) Howell of Springfield, formerly of Roby was unable to attend either celebration due to illness. For things you want, to buy, sell or rent, read the classified pages. Mr.

and Mrs. Bud Peterson of Casper, Wyoming came in last Saturday for a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. Waiter Williams. They returned home on Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hicks of St. Louis arrived Monday for a Bhort three day visit with Mr. and Mrs.

Delmar Pownall. They returned home on Wednesday. Mrs. Helen Caudle left last Sunday to spend the week in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Shirley Cook of St.

James. The high school concert was held Thursday evening in the high school gymnasium with a good crowd attending. The Plato Homemakers Club met Thursday for a work day. They made wreaths for Memorial Day and worked on cancer pads. They will meet again on Thursday this coming week.

We extend our sympathy to the family of Mr. Elmer Massey who passed away this past week. Services for Mr. Massey were Friday afternoon in the Plato Christian Church with burial in the Stark Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston. The Rainbow Girls plan a rummage and bake sale on Saturday, May 2K from 10 in the morning until they finish.

The proceeds from the sale will go to make improvements in their new reception hall below the Masonic Hall. This would be a good time to get rid of those unwanted items found during house cleaning time and also help the girls out in this worthy project. Also their bake sale will enable people to have goodies for the Memorial weekend without having to Melissa Kay Kamplain, left, daughter of Mr. and Mrs W. C.

am plain of Solo, and Sandra Jean Brallier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brallier of Rt. 1, Houston, ere among the 83 seniors graduating from the Burge School of Nursing in the Lester E. Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

Graduation activities will begin in the Fountain Plaza Room of the hospital where a reception will be held for the graduates and their families from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 3. Commencement exercises will be held in the Assembly of God Church. Boon vi Lie and Calhoun Streets at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 3rd.

Guest speaker for the event will be well known Springfield surgeon, Dr. James T. Brown. His topic will be, "Service Sclerosis." Diplomas will be presented to the graduates by Lester L. Cot, Chairman of the Board, Leater E.

Cox Medical The Burge School of Nursing started in 1907. It is now one of the largest diploma schools in the state with a student body of over 250. One hundred new students have been accepted for the new class starting in August. The school is affiliated with Drury College and Evangel CLASS College and ia accredited by the National League for make those goodies at home. The girls will also have a bakery stand at Ronnie's Supermarket at Evening Shade.

Mrs. Henry Raybom visited Friday evening with Mrs. Leon a Miller. Mrs. Hazel HarUog returned home Thursday after a six-week vacation.

The first five weeks of this vacation were spent in southern California visiting relatives, some of whom she had not seen for many years. The last week was spent in St, Louis visiting her son, Robert Hartzog, Jr. and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Carmie Gale and Mr.

and Mr. Jim Gale and daughters of Eunice visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Galling Madison. Mr.

and Mrs. Woodford Tilley, Jr. had a surprise visit from Mr. and Mrs. R.

B. Tilley from Springfield. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carrel Groves on Sunday were Mr.

and Mrs. Verl Crisp of Lebanon. Sunday afternoon the Pla- Tennis Meet At School Championship games in the Houston High School Tennis Tournament were held last Monday and Tuesday May 16-17 with 22 Winners: First place girls singles. Vicki O'Neil; second place girls singles. Debbie Huff; first place boys singles, Eddie Lipscomb; second place boys singles, Robert Impey.

Baccalaureate services were held Sunday evening in the Plato gymnasium for the thirty-nine seniors. Dr. Samuel D. Smith, Dean. School of Religion at Drury College gave the Baccalaureate address, "Learning For Living Commencement will be on Wednesday evening at eight o'clock.

Grades 7-8 Girls Track Marks Listed Seventh and eighth grade girls track, offered for the first lime this season at the Houston Schools, attracted about 30 participants. Coached by Debbie Wyatt, the girls' squad competed in three meets. Rita and Garry Jensen were here over the weekend attending church at Oak Hill Sunday morning and Baccalaureate services at Houston Sunday evening. Jane Pamperien, Davenport, la. visited with her sisters, Doris Douglas and Violet Douglas and their families on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Wright of Idaho Falls are visiting in the neighborhood, calling on Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Douglas Sunday morning and enjoying Sunday dinner with the Raymond Stilleys.

Mrs. Wright will be remembered as Betty Joe Clotfeller, who left White Rock about 40 years ago. Mrs. Janet levins and children, Wanda, David and Jimmy of Springfield were guests of the Raymond Stilleys over the weekend and also attended Baccalaureate on Sunday evening. Congratulations to Brenda Stilley Marvin Douglas, Debbie Stilley.

Meliina Ger-mano, Dana Norris Sparks and Elaine Farris Koch who are in the 1977 Houston graduating class. Franklin Gourley and a friend, Walt Fowler of San Jose, Calif, arrived on Sunday for a visit with Franklin's sisters and other relatives. We understand Mr. Gourley is also looking for a farm. It was good to see Jerry and Debbie Arthur.
