Houston, Ms; 29, 1980 Section A Page 2 South Bado News Briefs Local Team Wins Second At Licking A Houston Softball team, Hair Designs by Betty Dunn. 4 moved undefeated into their last game in Licking's Round -Robin tournament Memorial Day weekend and then lost the final game 11-1. The Houston ladies team was beaten by the Key Sports Shop team from Rolla. The team finished fourth in last year's state finals, said Lonnie McGowen, one of the Houston coaches. "We only got five or six hits in our last game." The one run scored by the Hair Design team was by 4 Melissa Dunn on a hit by Terri Barton Coming up for the team is league play in Licking this week and another tourney this weekend at All enjoyed a beautiful Memorial Day weekend.

A large crowd attended closing exercises for Bible School Friday night. The average attendance was 45. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Dit-marr, Texas spent the weekend with their daughter, Mrs.

David Graydon, Mr. Graydon, Carla and Michael. They left Monday morning for home taking Carla and Michael with them for a few weeks visit. Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Reaves joined several members of the Smyer family in the Roscoe Carter home Sat- Mrs. Neva Bryant. Independence and Melvin Ston-er. Iowa visited Saturday and Sunday in the Wayne Reaves home. Mrs.

Claude Laffoon was Saturday dinner guest. Herschel and Jimmy Reaves visited after noon. David Graydon and Homer Dittmar visited Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Reaves, Mrs. Neva Bryant, Melvin Stoner, Esther, Wayne and Darrel Reaves joined Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Reaves and several members of their family at their camp on Piney River for supper Saturday night. Doug and Debra Coday spent last week in the Earl Sponsler home and attended Bible School.

Mrs. Glenna Friesen and son Mike. Dallas, Tex. and Karen Foszholz, Houston, Tex. visited a few days over the weekend with Glenna '3 father.

Harry Higgins and Mrs. Higgins. Bruce Ross Promoted To Loan Officer Bruce A. Ross, son of Roma L. Ross and the late Donald M.

Ross, was elected consumer loan officer by the Board of Directors of the Commerce Bank of Independence, N.A., Independence, according to an announcement by Larry C. Featherslon, Bank Vice President. Ross joined the Commerce organization in January of 1976 as a teller trainee of the Commerce Bank of Springfield, Springfield, Mo. and through the Springfield training program advanced to the Installment Loan Department serving in the area of indirect finance. In February of this year, Ross was promoted and moved to the Independence area to serve as Consumer Loan Representative.

In his new elected position, Ross will be assisting customers with their loans at the Main Bank. Ross is a 1974 graduate of the Houston High School and attended both Southwest Missouri State and Drury College in Springfield. He and his bride of seven months, Christie, reside in Blue Springs, Mo. Jennifer Davis is spending this week with Kim Southern, former Hous Ionian who lives at Carthage. Mo.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mitchell and children of Lebanon spent the holiday weekend in Houston visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Mitchell, and with his brother and family, Mr.

and Mrs. Brad Mitchell. A Licking student, Dorothy Marie Munch, has been named to the 1980 spring honor roll at Northeast Missouri State. Kirksville. Mrs.

Mae Martin returned home last week after spending two weeks in Columbia visiting with Dr. and Mrs. Lynn Martin and Greg and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Martin.

Visitors of Mrs. Martin during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Martin, Judy Cole of Desoto, Clara Hart and Mr. and Mrs.

Dewaine Scow-den of Carthage, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gaines and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hancock.

Terry Martin, grandson of Mae Martin will teach at the Licking school next year. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Stottlemyre, Freddie and Gary Case beer were at the School of the Ozark Sunday. Their son, Danny Stottlemyre graduated with a S.

degree. Mrs. Opal Huff accompanied her son, Larry Huff and Charlene Sauler of Topeka, Kans. to Lebanon Saturday where they met Mrs. Pat Cook and children and all went to the Ha Ha Tonka Park.

On Sunday the same group went to the School of the Ozark where they met Debbie Huff and the group went to Silver Dollar City and Shepherd of the Hill Page-Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wilson, formerly of Cabool have moved to Houston in the Lillyview Addition. Mr. and Mrs.

Homer Sutton received a call from their grandson, Greg Wilson who is a med student in New York. Tracy Sperlazza of Lebanon visited over the week- Visiting Rut nine Tucker Sunday were Mavis Ingram, Simmons Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bartch Atlanta, Mrs. Lillian Haney, Seattle, Jess Haney and granddaughter and grandson, Kansas City, Mo.

Bessie Hill of Houston suffered a broken hip Tuesday in a fall at the Kabul Nursing Home where she has been residing.
