Knkhina fifth in the state in debate were Jenny Moore and Rachael Peachee. Peachee also received a metal in original oratory by finishing sixth. Tony Leier and Jared Odle finished 12th in debate.

Krista Weldon and Eric Greve participated in duet acting. More than 100 schools competed in the tournament with no class di Danny Roderick, Matthew and Arden at Russellville, Ark. The James' attended Grandparents Day for Matthew, who is a second grader. Saturday they toured Petit Jean Mountain and Rockfeller Farm. En route home they visited Mrs.

Ray Vandivort, who is a patient at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Roderick, Jana, Jared and Lori at Rogersville. W.E.

and Wanda Hayes of Colorado Springs, have been visiting Wanda's sister, Ruth Tappero, and brother, Willard and Margarette Davis. Brian Jenkins of Greenville, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Lindor and sons of Garden City visited over the weekend with the Harlin and Paul Ices. They also attended the Eagle Scout ceremony for Darren Ice at the Ozark Baptist Church Saturday Mr.

and Mrs. Vernon Murphy returned home recently after spending six months in Sebring, visiting their sons, Dr. and Mrs. Butch Murphy, Rachel and Erin and Mr. and Mrs.

Mike Murphy, Theresa and Zack. Tina Wilson, Newt and Nat of Springfield brought the youth from Grant Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield to Emmett Kelly Days over the weekend. Supper guests Saturday night of Dr. and Mrs. I.C.

Keeney were Doug Keeney and Megan of Springfield; Diane Pierce and Kirk, Whiteman Air Force Base; Mr. and Mrs. David Keeney and Lois Helseth. Gary Yarnell of Nashville, spent a week with his parents. He was also here turkey hunting.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald James spent a few days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Memphis, Tenn.

Charles is a blacksmith who worked Friday and Saturday at Debo's Hardware during Emmett Kelly Days. Edward Scott and Jewell Haney of Seattle, visited last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ebert, Kent and Kim. Visiting Saturday in the home of Fred and Janice Wood of Houston were his aunts, Draxy Rippee, Yakima, Essie Burney, Mountain Grove; his parents, Fred Sr.

and Mary Wood, Hartville; his brother and wife, Tom and Kathy Wood, St Louis. They also helped Fred celebrate his 40th birthday. Texas County Sheriff and Mrs. John Vandiver were in Springfield this week for him to attend a law enforcement seminar. Max James, LaCentre, is here visiting family and friends.

Eagle Scout, took part in his cousin's award ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Linville Hardin visited Tuesday with Dr. and Mrs.

Harold Harvey and Dr. Dan and Judy Harvey at Springfield. Debbie Collins and Blake of Poplar Bluff visited Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joye Flower.

Visiting Sunday was Ruby Gerbasi. Margaret Keeney visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Apperson at Mountain Grove. Weekend visitors of Virginia Hibbard were Bud and Carol Powell, Aurora; and Dean and Ann Dickens, Scott and Jana, Ava.

John and Jenny Campise of Bado visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Boone Moore. Weekend visitors of Marcella McKinney were her son, Charles visions, meaning smaller schools competed against Digger ones. The Houston squad won 93 trophies during the year.

Students Place in Meet Two Houston High School students placed April 20 in an Invitational Weighlifting Meet at Cabool. Brant Farris placed first in the 200 pound weight division. David Wood was second in the 185 pound division. Winners Announced in Contest Tonya Logan was the first place winner in a Math-Science Club Space Alien Contest at Houston High School. Talrimr second nlace was Aneelia Milam: third was Janell PostlewaiL RAYMONDVILLE Entries were to be either a drawing of an alien or a clay model.

Clay models were each of the winners. Leadership Week Celebrated The Houston High School student council sponsored activities last week to celebrate National Leadership Week. Student leaders received gold recognition certificates on Monday morning and were treated to cupcakes Wednesday and a pizza party on Friday. Class and organization officers were included in the recognition. Englehorn Receives at State Blu Englehorn received a rating for his architectural drawing in state competition last week.

Police Mrs. Bryce Brown, Sunday at. Licking. Dennis and Marjorie Elliott were in Springfield Monday to return her sister, Ruth Holbrook, home from the hospital. Bill and Joan Agee were in St.

Louis and attended a state NARFE convention. Bill also visited with a service buddy he hadn't seen for 40 years. Sharon Henry was a supper guest Tuesday, April 30, of Frank, Marivonne and Amanda Langham to help celebrate Amanda's birthday. Vickie White came Friday evening and took her mother and daughter, Sharon Henry and Amanda Langham, back to Forestell for a few days visit Frank and Marivonne Langham drove to Sullivan Saturday evening to return them home. Betty Quinn spent the week with her daughter and husband, Rev.

and Mrs. Gene Hammond. Springs. Weekend visitors of Waunita Jameson were Mr. and Mrs.

Gary McCartney and son, Craig, of Tray. They spent the weekend at their farm. Frank, Marivonne and Amanda Langham drove to Stockton Sunday and visited with their son, Steven Langham. The Blue Heaven Club will have its meeting tonight (Thursday) at the home of Jeanette Nickels. Virginia Wallen and son, Mark Wallen, were in Springfield Tuesday.

Visiting George and Tressie Pursifull Sunday were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pursifull and family, Loretta Henry and Lisa and Ernie Friend and Troy Boyd. Mr. and Mrs.

Tom Hollandsworth were in Salem Saturday to attend the funeral of a cousin. Lloyd and Bonnie Lou Brown and daughter, Annette, visited their parents, Mary Kirk and Mr. and Merckling, Norman and Don Mercking, Dorman Merckling, Don and Debbie Schweighauser, Sandy and Chasity Mayes, Dorthene Merckling, Darrell, Michaelle, Coleman and Denim Lee, Kathy and Nicky French, Travis Sawyer, Beth Ann and Jayme Cooper, George, Becky, Ian and Alison Heath, Jim, Delaina, Lonnie, Darrell and Carrie Lee, James and Gail Lee. Mr. and Mrs.

Steve Pemberton and Megan of Olean visited over the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Beasley. Joyce Cline visited Monday evening in the Frank Langham home and with Mary Johnson. Service times at the Raymondville United Methodist Church have been changed for the summer Sunday School 10 a.m.; church 11 a.m.; and Bible study 6 p.m.

Velma Wantland visited her daughter, Bob and Nancy Loven, and family Sunday at Willow Chris and Diana Howerton, Sara, Nick and Clay spent the weekend in Springfield. While there they attended the volleyball game Saturday night at Hammons Student Center on the Southwest Missouri State University campus as the USA Women's Olympic Volleyball Team played Bulgaria. They visited with Chris' aunt and uncle, Lucille and Cotton West, at Rogersville and with Webb and Candace Howerton, Josh and Jason, at Mountain Grove. The family of Sylvia Merckling gathered Friday evening at her home for a supper to celebrate her 85th birthday. Attending were: Charley and Bettie Jones, Neil and Tammy Jones, Bucyrus; Judy York, Cedar Hill; Jimmie and Beverly Denton, Summersville; Don, Debbie and Madalyn Lee, Shirley Walker, Peggy Merckling, Mike Turner, Doyle, Geraldine and Amy Merckling, Marty Merckling, Sherry Merckling, Bob, Dustin and Justin Merckling, Houston; Eddie acts of crime.

Police said all of the calls were bogus. Upon an investigation, police determined a juvenile was responsible for all of the calls, and the boy was turned over to juvenile authorities. Investigated a broken rear window in a vehicle that had been parked near the Houston Post Office. The projectile may have come from a city mower, police said.
